Amidst all of the stories about police shootings, police brutality, open season on the police, and more hysteria comes one good story out of Florida of all places where we first heard the name George Zimmerman and became all to familiar with the rather frightening "stand your ground" philosophy. Three men, a black, a Latino, and a white man, saw a sheriff's deputy being beaten after making a traffic stop and came to his rescue. It's the kind of story that gives some hope for the future that perhaps some day we can close the chapter on all of this senseless violence, prejudice, misinformation, and suspicion that plague our criminal justice system. There is no reason that police and citizens have to be enemies. Just a quick hit here to pass the story on.
